Tissawewa Grand

Tissawewa Resthouse, in the ancient city (5 BC) of Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka, has been popular with travelers looking for a style of hospitality which is leisured, caring combined with a setting in the colonial past. Amidst lush tropical surroundings, the then pleasure gardens of ancient kings, lies this country style inn.

The building, with its timbered floors, long open verandahs and cane chairs is much photographed - and has even being used for period film settings. Its fans will be pleased to know that the grand old lady is now being refurbished. The builders will be upgrading the bathrooms, working there through to December, furnishings will be changed, there will be more suites to give guests a better choice of accommodation.
